Blue Flag Beaches

A globally prestigious Quality Award, The Blue Flag, recognizes the chosen beach as having sustainable environment management and beach operations. Such are inclusive of quality water, day and night safety, and adequate services. These beaches must follow 32 operative criteria and are regularly administered by established representatives and organization of Blue Flag Programme. This program ensures that there is sustainable tourism development with amplified quality in accommodation, dining and infrastructure; availability of bins to create litter free beaches; improving easy accessibility into the beaches, and plenty more. At present Malta has a total of 11 Blue Flag Beaches. Mentioned in the main article are the Għajn Tuffieħa, the Golden Bay and the Ramla Bay. The rest are: Fond Għadir Bay, Qawra Point, Buġibba Perched Beach, Għadira Bay, Ħondoq Bay, St. George’s Bay, Westin Dragonara Resort and Marsalforn Bay.
