From the 709-meter summit of Corcovado, the giant statue of Christ overlooks the city with a docile look and is almost as commonly known as the distinctive form of Sugarloaf as a symbol of Rio. The stature of reinforced concrete and soapstone is 30 meters tall with arms stretching 28 meters; it weighs 635 metric tons.
